Tupac Amaru Shakur; the greatest rapper to date. There isn't a whole lot to say that hasn't already been said. Tupac was a rapper, actor, poet, humanitarian, rebel, thug.. the list could go on forever. Tupac was born and raised in New York and at the age of twelve was enrolled in many school plays. At fifteen Tupac takes on the name MC New York and starts rapping. Tupac also enrolls in The Baltimore School of Arts where he studies acting as well as ballet. At seventeen in Marin city Tupac attempts selling drugs for money but isn't any good at it. In March of 1990 at nineteen he joins Digital Underground only as a roadie. Eventually Tupac seems to be quite favored within the Digital Underground group and is selected to dance and rap at their shows. November 1991 Tupac release 2Pacalypse Now; this is the beginning of 2pac's rap reign. For the next five years Tupac steadily raps and acts becoming an idol to everyone that crosses his path. September 7, 1996 a day that many will not forget. That night Tupac attends the Tyson fight in Las Vegas, Nevada all seems well except for a run in with a crip member Orlando Anderson. After the fight Tupac leaves with Suge Knight to Suge's club 662 for a party. While waiting at a red light a white cadillac pulls up next to Pac's BMW and begins firing. Fourteen rounds are shot off with four hitting Tupac and one grazing Suge's head. Six days later on September 13,1996 Tupac is pronounced dead and to this day Tupac's murderer is still unknown. Many facts lead to believe it was Orlando Anderson and others point towards Pac's own manager Suge Knight. Tupac has touched many lives as he held many charitable concerts and tried to give back to the communities that looked up to him. He was almost like a Malcom X of his time. Tupac can never be replaced and will forever live on through his music.

Artist Info.
50 Cent first came into the game hated by many and loved by few but much has changed since then. 50's first single "How To Rob" displayed 50 lyrically robbin' everyone in the rap game from Timbaland and Missy to J.D. and Da Brat. After many encounters with the law in the mid-90's 50 decided to make a change in his life and go from hustlin' to rappin'. Fortunately, 50 was quickly accepted into the rap world after a run in with one of rap's hall of famers Run D.M.C.'s Jam Master Jay. Jay allegedly handed 50 a mixtape of beats and asked 50 to rap over it. Shortly thereafter 50 signed a deal with JMJ Records (Jay's Label). Although he had landed himself a deal nothing became of it and 50 found himself going nowhere in the industry. Eventually 50 joined up with Trackmaster's (Poke and Tone) and signed under their Columbia sub-label and began constructively working on his debut album "Power Of The Dollar" which was set to feature the track "How To Rob" as well as a duo with Destiny's Child. Shortly after "How To Rob" was released 50 had two near-death occurrences. The first hit was staged at the Hit Factory studio in Manhattan where he was stabbed. The second and most widely known incident occurred on May 24, 2000 in Jamaica, Queens where an assassination attempt almost took his life. 50 was shot nine times with a 9mm pistol: one shot pierced his cheek, another hit his hand, and seven others hit his legs and thighs. Due to both his controversy and assassination attempts Columbia tossed his album as well as 50 himself from their label. After spending the next two years on the underground serving mixtapes 50 eventually landed himself in a deal with Eminem and signed under the Shady/Aftermath label. With both Dr. Dre and Eminem producing his next album "Get Rich Or Die Trying"; 50 was destined not to fail and sure enough his first single "Wanksta" was huge. About a month later 50 released another single "In Da Club" which easily put 50 in the limelight reaching #1 on The Billboard Hot 100. Nearly ten months later 50 and his crew G-Unit (Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, & Tony Yayo) release "Beg For Mercy" their first commercial group release. Although it was highly anticipated it didn't exceed expectations partially due to the fact its release date was on the same day as Jay Z's final album "The Black Album." 50 Cent is set to release his highly anticipated sophomore album from the Shady/Aftermath family tree later this year shortly after Eminem's album is released. It will be interesting to see if 50 Cent can hold his reign as one of most respectable rap artists in the game today without falling into the watered down mainstream genre.

Artist Info.
Mr. Marshall Mathers or Eminem to his fans has gone from a white boy from the suburbs of Detroit to a riot throughout the world. Eminem is hated by many but loved and praised by even more. He is the first of his kind; successfully taking hip-hop and rap to the next level with a different shade of skin. Eminem was born in St. Joseph, Missouri but as a youngster was shuffled back and forth between St. Joseph and Detroit. As Eminem entered his teens he quickly became attracted to both rap and hip-hop and at 14 he began rapping as a hobbie in his friends basement under the name M&M (his initials). In order to improve his skills as well as break racial tension Em decided to start battle rapping in and outside of clubs. Over time Em made a few friends and it became a regular event to see Em perform against other contenders this help set the foundation for Eminem's career. Around this time when Em was 15 he was introduced to Kimberly Anne Scott who he would later marry and then divorce. Em was also hit with catastrophe involving his uncle who ended his life. Due to this Eminem swerved away from rap for a brief period of time only to return shortly thereafter. After regrouping Em began establishing himself with several rap groups. He first joined the New Jacks, and later teamed up with Soul Intent in which he recorded his first single in 1995. Eminem went on to meet up with yet another rapper that went by the name Proof who befriended Em and wanted to get a group started. Em agreed and together they rallied up four close friends and began both rapping and supporting each other under the band name D12. Just as the band was created so was his first child which forced Eminem to put rap at a standstill while he provided for his family. Eminem returned once again in 1996 to release his very first album titled "Infinite", but with Nas dropping his second effort around the same time Eminem's "Infinite" failed to catch much attention. Along with his album being left in the shadows Em endured many struggles in the next couple years. First his albums feels like a failure, then ...read more

Kentucky based Nappy Roots was formed in 1995 and consist of six members: Big V, Skinny
Deville, R. Prophet, Scales, Ron Clutch, and B. Stille. Before Making their first album debut
(“Country Fried Cess”) in 1998 Nappy Roots set up their own record store along with their own
clothing line. After hearing the group perform; Nappy Roots had many labels hooked and they
eventually signed with Atlantic. Nappy Roots first commercial release “Watermelon, Chicken,
& Gritz” was released in 2002 and contained the single “Aw Naw.” Nappy Roots are one of the
first rap groups to take big beats and excellent lyrics to the next level, each member is as lyrically
inclined as the next bringing competition to solo artist such as Eminem and Nas. Big V is
already in the works of a solo project to be released later this year. Unlike most rap today
Nappy Roots seems to focus on life, history, and home rather than hate, money, and power which
sets them apart from anyone else. Big V is currently working on still untitled solo project.
